Location
Cambodia is bordered on one side by the Gulf of Thailand, to the West. To the North is Thailand, over the Dangkrek mountains and to the Northeast is Laos. Cambodia is bordered along the entire eastern side and the South by Vietnam. Siem Reap is in the Northwest of the country, 196 miles (315 km) north of the modern capital, Phnom Penh.

For those wishing for a more leisurely but scenic arrival, a boat trip is available from the Cambodian capital of Phnom Penh up the Mekong River and through the beautiful lake of Tonle Sap, arriving in Siem Reap three days later.
