At La Residence d'Angkor we are serious about our commitment to encouraging sustainable tourism in Cambodia.

We take part in many local activities and projects and donate where we can directly; for example by giving retired bed linen and pillows to the local hospitals.

Charitable organisations visit the hotel to give presentations to our guests to encourage visitors to be aware of the challenges facing Cambodia. 

We are careful to work in harmony with the environment by recycling as much of the hotel waste as possible.

Here are some examples of the projects we have been actively involved in so far:

• If guests wish to donate items which they would otherwise dispose of at home at the end of their stay, such as used clothing, books, pencils and pens, we actively encourage them to do so. These items are then washed, sorted and donated to the local NGO's, charities and hospitals.     
  
  
• From December 2006, we have invited various NGO's and charitable organizations to show a presentation about their projects to our guests at the hotel. The first to do so was the Angkor Hospital for Children, and they now visit on a weekly basis to show a short movie about the hospital and their work. They then answer questions and invite guests to visit the hospital for themselves. We are happy to report that the hospital has received considerable donations during these events.    
   
  
• We dontate on a regular basis retired bed sheets and towels to the Angkor Hospital for Children for use in the hospital. We are pleased that our next donation to the hospital will be when our new feather pillows arrive. All existing foam pillows including pillow covers will be donated.      
     
• We collect and donate cooking oil, which then is used to produce Bio Diesel.    
   
• We treat our waste water in a manner that makes it safe to be released back into the River.      

These are just a few of the many projects in which La Residence d'Angkor is currently engaged and we will have details of many more projects to follow in the near future.
