Kompong Phluk
(margins of the great lake) Using a combination of road vehicles, motorized boats, canoes and motos we set out to visit the subsistence fishing communities on the margins of the great lake. We begin at a local market which assaults the senses with its vibrancy, colours and smells. We also visit the earliest (and quite beautiful) Angkor lowland capital. Best of rural Cambodia
(Markets, ox carts and remote temples) Today we get right away from the crowds of tourists and explore rural Cambodia with a friendly local at your side. Begin in Psa Leu market – large, noisy, colourful – buy snakes and salted crickets and simply observe the rhythm of ordinary Khmer life. On towards the remote jungle temple of Beng Mealea. We finish the day with an ox-cart ride to Prey Monti and the beautiful Bakong temple listening to the Monks at prayer.
