Phnom Kulen and Beng Mealea
Venture out and away to Kulen Mountain, considered to be the most sacred mountain in Cambodia. Over 30 different temple ruins have been identified scattered over the mountain range. Visit the massive reclining Buddha carved into the stone hill and while away the time with a visit to the waterfalls. Travel further from Siem Reap through villages to the mysterious Ben Mealea Temple, the blueprint for Angkor Wat. This temple is overgrown with trees and vines and is an explorer's dream for venturing into darkened doorways and skirting crumbled pillars.

Kompong Khleang & Roluos, stilted fishing village on Tonle Sap Lake
Walk through the photogenic and fascinating Psa Leu market, a wholesale market that receives few tourists. Journey by road to explore the largest village on Tonle Sap Lake at Kompong Khleang. These fishing communities live in houses on stilts up to 10 meters high to cope with the seasonal variation in water levels. On our way back we explore the contemporary village of Roluos and the two most important temples, Preah Ko and Bakong. Monks chanting from the contemporary pagoda within the grounds of the temple provide a fitting soundtrack to the vista.
